The color of my black Levi's jeans has faded

Even though I hand washed my Levi's brand black jeans, I saw with my own eyes that the color faded and the dye mixed with water. I was very upset about this situation, I had washed my trousers by hand and could not bring myself to throw them into the machine. I wonder what would have happened if I had thrown it into the machine? It would definitely have been worse.
